Submissions for The Host Publications Chapbook Prize are now closed. Thank you to all who have shared your work for consideration, we look forward to sitting with your work.

The Host Publications Chapbook prize awards a woman writer $1000, 25 author copies, dedicated editorial work from our skilled editors, a book launch, and energetic promotion from our staff. We also offer each of our prize winners the opportunity to be a guest on our literary podcast, The Host Dispatch.

Submissions are open to any US-based woman writing in English, including those who identify as trans and non-binary, who feel at home in a space that centers on women’s experiences. We strive to amplify the voices of those who have been historically silenced – BIPOC, LGBTQ+ writers, disabled writers, immigrant writers – you are all welcome and wanted here.

While we don’t give preference to any particular style of poetry, we are interested in publishing work that pushes boundaries – boundaries of form, voice, language and style, the boundaries of what poetry is and can do. We want to publish work that we believe in, and we believe in poetry that is revolutionary, incendiary, punk rock; poetry that can find, even in the most domestic details of our daily lives, the spark of urgency that propels us all into the unknown armed with fearlessness and hope.

Previous chapbook prize winners include mónica teresa ortiz, Stephanie Goehring, Julie Howd, Claudia Delfina Cardona, Lily Someson, Sequoia Maner, Maryan Nagy Captan, Sophia Stid, and Bianca Alyssa Pérez.

Please review our submissions guidelines before uploading your submission.
